4 immediate things you can do to improve your health

August 15, 2024

At Innovative Vitality, our approach to working with patients is to help you reach optimal health. Through our 3 phases, we coach you to reach your ideal body weight, improve blood labs, track your glucose, optimize nutrition, build muscle and more lasting changes to help you live well 20, 30, 40+ years into the future.

Here are 4 things you can do today to improve your health.

Nutrition is Key

Good nutrition is so important – we can’t overstate the value. If you are working out but filling your body with highly processed foods, you aren’t going to reach optimal health. At Innovative Vitality, we encourage patients to focus on a high protein and low carb diet.

We also work with patients to adopt an intermittent fasting routine, building up to 16 hours of fasting and 8 hours of eating. Intermittent fasting promotes overall health by enhancing metabolic function, reducing inflammation, and supporting cellular repair, leading to improved energy, mental clarity and longevity.

Don’t Skimp on Sleep

It’s very hard to be healthy if you don’t get 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Sleep is crucial for overall health because it allows the body to repair and rejuvenate itself, supporting immune function, brain health, and hormone regulation. Adequate sleep also enhances cognitive performance, mood, and the ability to manage stress, contributing to a healthier and more balanced life. Basically, When you are well rested, it’s much easier to make good eating choices, have the energy to exercise and stay less stressed.

Exercise Efficiency

Adopt an exercise routine, and do it efficiently. We ask you to be really intentional about exercise, not just do a little cardio here and there. We do an InBody body composition analysis regularly with patients, so we know exactly how much muscle you need to gain, and we track macronutrient intake like protein and fiber. Ideally we want you to lift weights 2 or 3 times a week, and once you are in a good routine with weight lifting you can add cardio.

Manage Your Mental Health

If your mental health and stress management are off kilter, it’s easy for all the other health gains you’ve made to fall apart as well. Whether it’s meditation, journaling, yoga, meeting with a therapist or walking with a friend – get the right support system and people around you.
